not at all random thought

it's the tiniest bit tricky to buy your mom a Mother's Day card the day after she tells you that your perpetually empty womb is an insult and a disappointment to her.

  1. You know, I'm sticking to my suggestion that you tell them you've had a hysterectomy. That you think the world is over-populated. Throw in something about Jesus, too. That oughta do it.

  2. I think my mother has made comments like that an art form actually (if you include at the same time calling me fat), so I stay away from all cards made for mothers day. They do not apply. I either buy blank ones with a kitten on the front and scratch something random on the inside or I just send her flowers so she gets a generic happy mother's day! card (that's literally all it says: "happy mother's day! Love, Kim) included thanks to ProFlowers.com.

  3. Mother's are really, really good at that - make one feel like shit (but with love!)because they care.

  4. You'll be happy to know that after I provided the lovely grandchildren, my mother told me that I was now even fatter.
    Mother's are never satisfied.

  5. Wow... My mom never made me feel like that. I agree with EB72 - sad stuff, indeed.

  7. I'm convinced that mothers will never be happy with their daughters. Seriously. I escaped the grandchildren bit because my brother beat me to it -- a few months after his high school graduation. But if its not the lack of a man or children, it will be something else -- like your hair or your weight or your clothes.

It's their convuluted way of telling you they love you -- they're not criticizing -- they're just trying to get you to reach your potential.

    Yeah, right.
